Sassy Turns The BIG40!

It was Sassy's birthday on Friday. She turned 40 and we all celebrated with her at school! It was a great day for her!

I made her a fuzzy purple knitted scarf and bought her a case for her crochet hooks. She liked them both.

She came over today for another crochet lesson. She did real well. I think I will stick with the one on one lessons from now on. It seems to go better than trying to help a room full.

I snapped this picture of her in her scarf while she was here.

Look What I Got...

I went to Hobby Lobby the other day and they were having a 50% off crochet and knitting sale. How great is that!!!!
I was so excited to find these two knitting booklets to go along with the books my bookclub is reading. There are some really cute patterns in them and it's neat that they "tie in " with the books. And........they were 50% off. Awesome!!!!

What's Good For The Goose....

I haven't posted anything for a couple of days.....sorry!!!! to my faithful readers (the 3 of you. LOL) I have had an awful head cold and feel like doing.....absolutely nothing.

Thought I would post a picture of Gracie, one of my many geese friends. Atleast she's knitting, if I'm not.

My geese were the reason in the first place for me to pick up the needles and hook after years of having them tucked in a box. They needed clothes!

So, I'm off of here.......... to try and read, knit, crochet or.......probably I will just go and blow my nose and take a nap.

See yah!

Crazy but FUN!!!!

Tonight was Crochet and Knitting Lesson No#2. We had more people join in on the fun this time! Wow! I wish I could of cloned myself. I don't know what I would have done if my "student teacher" D wasn't there. She was a life saver!

I was so excited to have a BOY want to learn crochet! Clayton did a great job chaining. He came with his mom, Kim, who picked up knitting in no time.

Carol, wih the lavender shirt on, came and did great knitting, for the first time. Her goal is to knit Christmas stockings like she had as a kid. How cool is that!

D, who wore the really cool sweater, did great learning how to purl and brought 2 garter stitch squares for our charity blanket.

I felt like I neglected Sassy, grey sweatshirt, and her daughter Sassyette, green shirt. I was trying to teach them single crochet, but I kept getting sidetracked with the knitters. I am going to try to give them another seperate lesson.

Suzy came, but I can't find her picture and I know I took one of her! She brought 3 knitted squares and a huge box of books. Awesome! I , of course, took tons of them. I will list them tomorrow when I get a chance. I am sleepy now and need to scoot to bed.

It was a great night!

Saturday Shopping Spree

I had fun yesterday shopping! I bought more knitting magazines and one book one. I got some needles and needle "end protectors" and a stitch holder , and some double ended needles to try my hand at knitting some socks after Suzy put the idea in my head the other night at KAC, knitting and crocheting.

I went to Hobby Lobby to get Lion Brand Thick and Quick to start Sweetpeas free Bobblicious pattern. They only had a few colors and no more than 3 skeins of each! ARGH! I was so upset because I really wanted to start it last night, even though I have other WIPS I need to finish. LOL

So I ended up buying this really pretty color of Lion Brand Homespun called Barley. Now I need to just figure out how to get the same guage as the Thick and Quick so I can start.Or make somethingelse out of this yarn... Or wait, because Sweetpea told me she would do the math for me. She's so sweet! Decision, decisions!

I also wanted to get some sock yarn. Not knowing the first thing about sock yarn I really didn't know what to get. I found two balls of this Bernat Sox. It should work hopefully for my first sock attempt.

And lastly, I got my Vera Bradley purse for the season. I absolutely love the color and it makes me even more ready for Spring!

Magazine Mania

When you have a not so good day at work you..................... go shopping! It was fun! I went kind of magazine crazy! My friend D brought me the Creative Knitting this mornig. How sweet was that?! She wants me to show her how to make the fuzzy blanket inside. I told her I would be happy to. I love sharing the fun and joy of knitting and crocheting with my friends.

Snow Go Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night it was almost 50 degrees and now this morning we wake up to this!!!!! I know I shouldn't complain, we have had a very mild winter so far but ......I AM READY FOR SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like Mother Like Daughter

Sassy and Sassyette last night chaining. They did super! They were going to run to Wal-Mart last night after our lesson and buy another crochet hook so they could practice this weekend together.
I wish my daughter would want to learn. She just says "That looks BORINGGGGGGGGGGG!" She does cross stitch though sometimes, and she did this really cool weaving at school. Maybe one day I can get her to try crocheting or knitting......I can dream. =)

Fun Friday!

Some of the book club got together at D's house to have crochet and knitting lessons last night. It sure was fun!!!! I think we are going to have to come up with a "Chicks with Sticks" group too!!!!
Here I am , in the middle, showing Sassy and Suzy how to crochet a chain, while Sassy and D's daughters look too.

After 2 lessons at knitting D is doing great! And we figured out how she keeps adding a stitch to each of her rows!

Wow! Suzy hadn't picked up a knitting needle in 25 years and she already brought a square for our afghan. I showed her how to knit her stitches on , she was a quick learner.

We had a blast last night. They kept thanking me for the lessons but I said STOP!!!!! because they were such good students , I didn't have to teach them much.
I have another picture but I can't seem to get it on here. I will try again in a little bit.
