Craft Night

The Yarn Chicks had a craft night on Monday. No yarn involved! We made pumpkin centerpieces. As usual, when you get us chicks together, there turned out to be more talking and eating, less crafting. LOL

Sassy shows how we put rubberbands on our styrofoam balls to give them grooves.

Dee is tracing hands out of felt.

We lost Laura to Wife Swap. I don't think she's ever seen it!

It was a fun night!

The Yarn Chicks are coming to my house this Thursday so more FUN ahead!

Pumpkin Head Fred

Tada! Here he is finished in all his crooked eye glory!

Pillow For Baby

I went to visit the "mommy" and her new baby on Friday. She had given me a crocheted square from her grandmother. I wanted to do something special with it. I had already made "mommy" 2 different blankets so I knew I really didn't want to make another. So I came up with the idea of the pillow. I think it turned out so cute. The red and cream side is from her grandmother. The cream side with the "star shine" pattern was mine. I thought it would be a nice pattern meaning that her grandmother's love was shining down from Heaven on the new sweet baby boy.

She loved the pillow! I am glad! And it was nice to see the other blankets around the house being used.

I, of course, forgot to take my camera to get a picture of the baby. =(

Fall Break Fun

We have a four day weekend! Yippee!!!

Maybe I will get something productive done, like cleaning my house or finishing a knitting or crocheting project.

It was so nice to sleep in today!

I still have four magazines I'm on the hunt for, so probably I'll drag myself out in a little while to go hunting for them. The Brat will be so excited! NOT! She even had the nerve to tell me she wished we didn't have Fall Break because I was boring and school was better! The horror!

Work Area

My sister , The Gadgeteer, had a cool thing on her site where she wanted others to send in pictures of their work areas. Well, I thought no one wants to see a picture of my frumpy bed where I do most of my knitting, crocheting, and reading. So I took a picture of my desk where I spend every free moment away from my other obsessions.

From left to right in the picture:

I have a giant paper clip of various notes. Notes on books, crafts, friends emails, etc. In this stack is also the TLU notebook of the many thousands of books I've yet to buy or read.

The next stack is some sticky notes,my knitting notebook, my journal, and my pda. On top is a koosh ball to fiddle with when I am waiting for something to download or print.

Then there's a basket with giant pins in it and a Golden Ticket postcard.

Then there's a stack of mini notebooks with an adorable little pink pig on top. I think
I got it at Bob Evan's. In front of them is a mini brick that a kindergartener gave me several years ago.

Then there's my Chicken Dance Elmo which The Man gave me a couple of Easter's ago. In front is some bolts on a magnet base to make little sculptures.

Then there's a giant clothespin and a basket of big paperclips. In front is 20Q. What a fun game!

A basket of sticky notes on a little rug my Brat made me when she was in the second grade. In front of this is my name in wood that I've had since I was a little girl.

And last but not least ...the best thing on my desk. My Fujitsu notebook! My sis gave it to me a couple of years ago. Love, love, love it!!!

So there I've rambled on and you are probably snoring, but now you know where I like to hang out.

Much too many magazines!

I went a little crazy with the debit card! But I just had to get all the new issues of my magazines! There are still 2 others that are supposed to be out but couldn't find them. Darn it!

I started the "Lady in Red" that is on the cover of Crochet. I don't think I look good in red so I am crocheting it in Papaya. The pattern is so pretty. Hope I can stick with it till it's finished.

Book related Buys

Picked up 2 knitting books. One is a mystery and the other is chick-lit. Can't wait to read them! I also picked up a copy of Book Reviews magazine. This mag is getting harder and harder to find. After finally finding it , I am kind of disappointed. I only got 2 new books for the TBR out of it. =(
