Portables

Wherever I go I must take along a book and a crochet or knitting project. You never know when you can fit in a few pages or a few rows.
I have several portable works-in-progress right now.
In my wonderful and favorite green Lala bag my sister gave me, I have a purple fuzzy scarf I am knitting for my friend's 40th birthday coming up.
In a plain old plastic bag I have crocheted squares for my bookclub's charity baby afghan.
In a plastic tote I have a crocheted poncho for my 3 year old neice, Ella.
And I am carrying around the book Night by Elie Weizel, after finishing Blue Dahlia by Nora Roberts last night.
Wow! I can't believe tomorrow will be February already. I have read only one book so far in 2006. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Book Club Babe

I started a bookclub over 2 years ago. I love to talk books to anyone who will listen and who share the same love. A mom of one of my students invited me to hers. They talked about breast feeding for about 2 hours. This was not an enjoyable conversation for me considering I never breast fed my own daughter and she is 12! LOL And....... they talked about books for about 5 minutes.
So I went home that night and decided to start my own and two years later it's still going strong.
For this month we chose the book A Shop on Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber. It's about a woman who opens a yarn store and she starts a knitting group. The group is making baby blankets.
So....................to tie in my love of crocheting and knitting we decided to make our own baby blanket and donate it to charity. I've made a few squares so far.
We are meeting at D's house on Friday to give the girls, who have no clue how to knit or crochet, lessons.

The Beginning Number 2

Two of the greatest passions I have are crocheting and books. I either have a hook or a book in my hands when I have a spare moment.
Thought I would create this blog to share these passions with you and I might throw a dash of this or a pinch of that in too, to shake things up a bit.
Hope you enjoy!

The Beginning

You have to start somewhere don't you? This is the beginning of something.....don't know what yet. Time will tell.
